Description

Dive into the enchanting world of miniature amigurumi with the Crochet Moon and Star Amigurumi Pattern. This detailed work of art is designed to be a versatile, unforgettable accessory—perfect as a stylish car mirror charm, a unique keychain, or a personal bag accent. The design features a precise crescent Moon and Star, both adorned with adorable sleepy, embroidered faces. Although small, the Amigurumi pattern guides you through advanced techniques to ensure perfect structural quality, making the process both enjoyable and rewarding. This is the ideal challenge for intermediate crafters seeking a unique, functional amigurumi project.

Amigurumi Pattern Details & Key Features

This Celestial Charm pattern utilizes seamless construction; both the Moon and Star are crocheted in continuous spiral rounds. The pattern incorporates advanced techniques essential for professional results:

  • Gap Prevention: Advanced shaping techniques are used to ensure perfect, seamless closures at the star points, eliminating the common issue of visible holes often found in amigurumi joints.

  • Perfect Shaping: Detailed instructions for shaping the complex crescent curve of the Moon.

  • I-Cord Color Transition: A dedicated guide for creating the long, sturdy connecting I-Cord with a clean, seamless transition between Color 1 and Color 2.

  • Embroidery: Facial features are finished using detailed Outline Stitch techniques.

Yarn & Materials

  • Yarn:

Color 1: Alize Diva (100% Microfiber Acrylic, 100g/350m/382yds) in Yellow/Gold (for the Star and I-Cord).

Color 2: Alize Diva (100% Microfiber Acrylic, 100g/350m/382yds) in Blue/Light Blue (for the Moon and I-Cord).

Total Project Weight: The finished charm weighs approximately 15 grams (0.5 oz).

Total Yarn Required: Less than 10 grams total of both colors combined. (This pattern is perfect for using up yarn scraps!)

Alternative Yarn: You can substitute Alize Diva with any Fingering Weight or Sport Weight (Category 1 or 2) yarn that achieves a tight gauge with the suggested hook.

  • Stuffing: Fiberfill (Holofiber).

Tools for this Crochet Moon and Star

  • Crochet Hook: 1.75 mm hook (equivalent to US B/1).

Hook Note: For Amigurumi, it is essential to achieve a very tight, gap-free fabric. If you substitute the yarn, choose a hook that is one or two sizes smaller than the hook size recommended on the yarn label to maintain the necessary tension.

  • Embroidery Thread: Thin sewing or embroidery thread in Black (for the Star’s eyes) and White/Off-White (for the Moon’s eyes).

  • Other Notions: Tapestry needle, embroidery needle, scissors, and a stitch marker.

Sizing & Gauge of Moon and Star

  • Finished Measurements:

    • Moon Height: Approximately 7 cm (2.8 inches tall 5 cm (2 inches) wide.

    • Star Diameter: Approximately 6 cm (2.4 inches) at the widest point.

    • Total Charm Length (including I-cord): Approximately 37 cm (14.5 inches).

  • Gauge: 36 sc and 36 rounds = 4 inches (10 cm) in single crochet.

               CRITICAL GAUGE TEST (Must Read):

    1. Using C1 (Star), crochet Rounds 1 through 5 of the Star piece as instructed below.
    2. The resulting flat circle should measure approximately 5 cm (1.4 inches) in diameter.
    3. MOST IMPORTANT: You must crochet very tightly so that the Fiberfill (stuffing) does not show through the stitches. If your fabric is loose, use a smaller hook size.
