Description

The Pear-shaped Ham Sewing Pattern is a vital tool for shaping garments. Its unique tapered design is perfect for pressing armholes, necklines, and collars. It helps you give your clothes a professional, high-end finish.

We use Double-Layer Technology to make the ham extra strong. This ensures it handles high heat and heavy pressure from your steam iron. Even as a beginner, you can easily create this essential tailoring equipment.

Pear-shaped Ham Details & Key Features

  • Double-Layer Design: Features an outer fabric and a strong lining for a very durable shell.
  • Deciduous Hardwood Filling: Packed with fine sawdust from deciduous trees to absorb moisture and hold its shape.
  • Specialized Shape: The narrow end is ideal for small curves, while the wide end handles larger areas like shoulders.
  • Firm Surface: The tightly packed filling provides the perfect hard surface for professional pressing.

Materials & Sizing

You can use new fabric or make this an eco-friendly project using scraps:

  • Outer Fabric: 40 cm (approx. 16″) of natural, heat-resistant cotton or linen. This is enough to cut two main pieces (37 × 22 cm). You can use fabric scraps or combine different materials for each side.
  • Lining Fabric: 40 cm (approx. 16″) of light to medium-weight natural cotton, such as calico or white cotton. This amount is sufficient to cut two main pieces (37 × 22 cm) along the grainline.
  • Thread: Strong sewing thread in a color that matches your fabric.
  • Filling: Fine sawdust from deciduous (hardwood) trees.

Tip: Clean sawdust typically sold in pet stores for small rodents is a perfect option.

Finished Measurements:

  • Pear-shaped Ham: 34 x 17.5 cm (Wide) / 4 cm (Narrow), Thickness 8 cm.

Tools & Supplies:

  • Sewing machine and hand sewing needle.
  • Steam iron or steam generator to shape the tool.
  • Fabric marker, tailor’s pins, and fabric scissors.
  • Funnel for stuffing: A regular funnel or a DIY version made from a plastic bottle neck to easily pour the sawdust inside.
