Description

The Kidney Ham Sewing Pattern is an essential guide for creating a tool that masters body curves. This ham is very versatile because it has a narrow end and a wider end to fit different types of curves. It ensures your garments have a natural, tailored fit without flattening the shape.

We use Double-Layer Technology to make the shell exceptionally strong. This allows the tool to handle intense steam and high pressure from your iron. This project is very simple, so any beginner can easily sew this professional equipment to improve their sewing results.

Kidney Ham Details & Key Features

  • Double-Layer Design: The pattern uses an outer fabric and a strong lining for maximum durability and shape retention.
  • Deciduous Hardwood Filling: Packed tightly with fine sawdust from deciduous (hardwood) trees to absorb moisture and stay firm.
  • Versatile Curved Ends: With a wide end and a narrow end, this tool works for both large and small body curves.
  • Beginner-Friendly: The construction is easy to follow, making it a perfect first project for professional tools.

Materials & Sizing

You can use new fabric or make this an eco-friendly project using scraps:

  • Outer Fabric: 35 cm (approx. 14″) of heat-resistant cotton or linen. This is enough to cut two pieces (32 × 19 cm). Scraps are a great choice if cut along the grainline.
  • Lining Fabric: 35 cm (approx. 14″) of firm, breathable cotton like calico. You will need two pieces (32 × 19 cm) cut along the grainline for stability.
  • Thread: Strong sewing thread in a color that matches your fabric.
  • Filling: Fine sawdust from deciduous (hardwood) trees.

Tip: Clean sawdust for rodents from pet stores is a perfect option.

Finished Measurements:

  • Kidney Ham: 28 x 14 cm (Wide) / 9 cm (Narrow), Thickness 6.5 cm.

Tools & Supplies:

  • Sewing machine and hand sewing needle.
  • Steam iron or steam generator to shape the tool.
  • Fabric marker, tailor’s pins, and fabric scissors.
  • Funnel for stuffing: A regular funnel or a DIY version made from a plastic bottle neck for easy pouring.
